Alice D. Lowe  “beloved mother and grandmother”

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa.----Alice D. Harris Lowe, 76, a longtime resident of Shinglehouse, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2020, in The Pavilion at Bradford Regional Medical Center, Bradford, after a long illness.

Born on Monday, May 17, 1943 in Olean, N.Y., she was a daughter of Babbitt and Lee Anna Sherwood Harris. She married Jack J. Lowe, who passed away on July 23, 2004.

Alice was a lifelong crafter and enjoyed taking care of the elderly in her younger years.

Surviving are three sons, William Appleby, Robert Vaughn, and Daniel Vaughn; a daughter, Eva Lee Anna (Peter) Cady; two grandchildren, Jackson and Brynn Cady.

In addition to her parents and husband, Alice was predeceased by a son, Richard Appleby, Jr.; a granddaughter, Jade Appleby; two brothers, Walter and Bob; and a sister, Ruth.

There will be no public visitation or funeral services. Private burial services will be held on a later date in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to an SPCA of the donor’s choice or to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.

Alice’s family has entrusted her care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
