Alsophila âAliceâ Petzen Kidd âdevoted wife and motherâ
SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Alsophila âAliceâ Petzen Kidd, 90, of Shinglehouse, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 in Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport.
Born July 22, 1924 in New York, NY, she was a daughter of John and Gertrude Tickner Petzen. On July 22, 1943 in New York City, she married Harry E. C. Kidd, who passed away on October 9, 2011.
Alice was a loving mother and homemaker. She and her husband moved from Long Island, NY to Shinglehouse thirty-five years ago.
Mrs. Kidd was a member of the Shinglehouse United Methodist Church and a member of the Oswayo Valley Senior Center in Shinglehouse. She participated in various community activities including monthly prayer breakfasts and quilting clubs. She very much enjoyed the company of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Her family greatly appreciates the excellent and loving care that she received from the staff of Cole Memorial Hospital and the Cuba Memorial Hospitalâs rehabilitation team during her physical challenges.
Surviving are a son, Harry Allan (Lydia) Kidd of Vero Beach, Florida; a daughter, Sue Littlejohn of Antioch, California; two grandchildren, Llewelyn John (Janice) Kidd and Joshua James (Jennifer) Kidd, both of Shinglehouse; four great-grandchildren, Carissa Lynn, Elizabeth May, Sarah Grace, and Heidi Lynn, all of Shinglehouse; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband of 66 years, Mrs. Kidd was predeceased by a grandson, Joseph Isaac Kidd; a great-grandson, Randy Allan Kidd; three sisters, Margaret Petzen, Jewel Buckman, and Ellen Mary Wolf; and two brothers, John Petzen and James Petzen; a daughter-in-law, Marilynn J. Kidd; and a son-in-law, James Littlejohn.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2015 at the Shinglehouse United Methodist Church. The Rev. Becky L. Edwards, pastor, will officiate. A luncheon will follow the memorial service. Burial will be in Bell Run Cemetery.
