Azel R. Ford âbeloved father and grandfatherâ
SMETHPORT, PA---Azel R. âAceâ Ford, 94, of Smethport, formerly of Scio, NY and Brookville, PA, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015 in Sena-Kean Manor, Smethport, after a long illness.
Born August 28, 1920 in Ceres Township, Pa., he was a son of Raymond and Opal Sherwood Ford. On May 23, 1943 in Fort Pierce, Florida, he married Adronicia J. âJeanâ Fischer, who passed away on March 7, 2010.
Mr. Ford attended the former Bell Run Country School and was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during World War II. He was self-employed in local oil and gas fields for over 50 years, and was also self-employed in the gas and oil supply industry, owning Ford Brothers Pipe Company in Duke Center.
He was a former member of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Bradford. He was a member of Sharon Lodge #598 F. & A.M. in Shinglehouse and had previously been a member of McKean Masonic Lodge # 388 F. & A.M. in Smethport.
Mr. Fordâs greatest love was his family. He resided in Smethport most of his life.
Surviving are three sons, Richard A. (Jane) Ford of Roulette, David W. (Michelle) Ford of Rew, and Donald R. Ford; a daughter, Beverly J. (Lester) Long of Richmond, Va.; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Marietta Townsend of Cross Forks, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Ford was predeceased by two sisters and three brothers.
In keeping with Mr. Fordâs wishes there was no public visitation. Private graveside services were held Friday, June 12, 2015 in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
