Betty M. Stoudt “former longtime resident of Ulysses”

COUDERSPORT, Pa.---Betty M. Stoudt, 79, of Coudersport, a former longtime resident of Ulysses, passed away in her home with her loving friends and caregivers by her side on Thursday, October 7, 2021, after a long illness.
Betty was born on Thursday, January 8, 1942 in Virginia. She was married to Theodore C. Stoudt, who passed away on June 19, 1987.
Betty graduated from high school in Virginia. She held a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and a Master’s degree in Education. She was a special education teacher in Virginia, then for many years in Potter County for IU9 before retiring in 2006.
After retirement, Betty, at her expense, trained dogs to be cadaver dogs, drug dogs to be used in schools, and search and rescue dogs. She worked with her cadaver dogs with local and state law enforcement and the FBI, including searches for missing persons in the Allegany State Park system.
Betty is survived by friends in the area, including Ulysses and Coudersport.
Betty was predeceased by her parents and husband.
Friends are welcome to attend graveside funeral services at 11am on Monday, October 11, 2021, in Sweden Hill Cemetery, Coudersport, with the Rev. Timothy Miller, UPMC Hospice chaplain, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Teacher’s Pet Rescue, 19 Blackberry Lane, Coudersport, PA 16915 or the Potter County Animal Assistance Project, 81 Marvin Hill Road, Coudersport, PA 16915.
Arrangements are under the care of Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
