Carol L. Thomas âBeloved wife, mother, and grandmotherâ
SHARON CENTER, PA---Carol L. Thomas, 71, of Sharon Center, passed away with her loving family by her side on Saturday, March 14, 2015 in Buffalo Mercy Hospital, Buffalo, NY after suffering a stroke.
Born April 9, 1943 in Weidman, Michigan, she was a daughter of Charles and Agnes Grisdale Gross. After her motherâs death, Carol was raised by her father and stepmother, Bea. On May 25, 1964 in Stannards, she married Kenneth C. Thomas, who passed away on June 11, 2010.
Carol was a graduate of Weidman High School. She worked for a period of time at the cafeteria at the Oswayo Valley Elementary School in Shinglehouse. For many years Carol was a housekeeper for numerous area families.
She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Shinglehouse and was a member of the Shinglehouse American Legion Post 530 Ladies Auxiliary. Carol was known for her baking skills and her generosity to everyone. She loved her beloved grand-dog Jethro, playing cards and crocheting. Her greatest love was her family. Each year she attended her family reunion in Michigan.
Surviving are two sons, Christopher A. Thomas of Sharon Center and Kenneth C. âBuckâ Thomas II of Dayton, Ohio; two daughters, Monica J. Thomas of Shinglehouse and Mare R. âBeckieâ Thomas of Kingston, Tennessee; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; two brothers, Don Gross and Larry (Donna) Gross, both of Michigan; four sisters, Marilyn Losey, Joanne Cochran, Sandy (John) Strazanak, and Charl (Ron Fellows) Gross, all of Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, stepmother, and husband, Carol was predeceased by two sisters, Virginia Jackson and Patricia Klumpp; and three brothers, Robert Gross, Allen Gross and Jack Gross.
At Carolâs request, there will be no public visitation. A graveside memorial service will be held this summer in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse at a date and time to be announced.
