GENESEE, PA---Charles R. Shoemaker, 78, of Genesee, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014 in Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville, NY, after a long illness.
Born January 23, 1936 in West Seneca, NY, he was a son of Edward and Henrietta Aiple Shoemaker. On December 24, 1976 in Stannards, NY, he married Nancy L. Halladay, who survives.
He graduated from high school in West Seneca. Charles was employed by Maddison Wire in West Seneca and later was a self-employed tile installer.
He enjoyed hunting, gardening, and his pets. His greatest love was his family.
Surviving besides his wife are four sons, Darl E. (Tacy) Teats of Lancaster, PA, Shawn M. (Jennifer) Teats of Stafford Springs, CT, Richard C. Shoemaker and Bret M. Shoemaker, both of Genesee; seven grandchildren; a brother, Robert Shoemaker of West Seneca; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by a grandson, Aiden Teats; and six brothers, Bill, Irv, Frank, Jack, Henry, and Edward.
In keeping with Charles wishes, there will be no public visitation. A celebration of his life will be held at a place and date to be announced.
