Charles D. Shutt âbeloved husband, father, grandfather & brotherâ
SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Charles D. Shutt, 72, of Shinglehouse, passed away at home with his loving family by his side on Monday, January 12, 2015, after a short illness.
Born December 28, 1942 on Moore Hollow, Potter Brook, PA, he was a son of Frank and Alice Ahearn Shutt. On November 2, 1963 in Hickox, he married Pauline E. Moe, who survives.
Charles attended Northern Potter High School in Ulysses and was a graduate of the former Breeden School of Welding in Genesee in 1963. He was employed at Air Pre-Heater in Wellsville, NY where he was a welder for 40 years, retiring at age 62.
He loved to fish and hunt, including ice fishing and bow hunting. He also loved camping and boating. He enjoyed pitching horseshoes and was an avid gardener. He loved his faithful dog and companion, Wendy. His greatest love was his family.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Rick D. (Sue) Shutt of Wellsville; a daughter, Roxanne A. (Donnie) Serkleski of Shinglehouse; five grandchildren, Josh D. (Brittany) Shutt, Brittany M. Serkleski, Chelsea M. Shutt, Brooke R. Serkleski, and Brandon A. Serkleski; a great-grandson, Hayden C. Shutt; three sisters, Betty (Fran) Sturdevant of Shinglehouse and Angie (Mel) Finke, both of Shinglehouse, and Jenny (Paul) Urbaniak of Lawrenceville; four brothers, Howard (Ann) Shutt and Henry Shutt, both of Lawrenceville, and Bill Shutt and James (Eva) Shutt, both of Genesee; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by three brothers, Leo Shutt, Virgil Shutt, and Louie Shutt.
In keeping with Charlesâ wishes, there will be no public visitation. At the current time there are no services scheduled.
