Charlotte Hallock Sutton       “beloved wife and mother”

OSWAYO, PA---Charlotte Hallock Sutton, 78, of Oswayo, PA, passed away in her winter home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 in Winter Haven, Florida, after a long illness.

     Born on November 6, 1938 in Oswayo, she was a daughter of James Kenneth “Red” and Bessie Mae Banks Hallock. On November 13, 1956 in Coudersport, she married Charles A. “Charlie” Sutton, who survives.  

     She was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School, Class of 1956, in Shinglehouse.  

    Charlotte was employed at the Oswayo Valley High School cafeteria, Shinglehouse, retiring in 1983.  She spent most of her summer days mowing on the family farm that she loved so much. She spent the rest of her time crocheting hundreds of baby blankets and doilies that all loved ones have received. She also donated hundreds of hats and mittens to the Christmas House in Coudersport for several years.

    Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Jerry D. (Jan) Sutton of Lakeland, Florida and Gary A. (Penny) Sutton of Oswayo; a daughter, Rhonda S. (Ned) Waters of Bartow, Florida; five grandchildren, Jason (Jenna) Sutton, Kayla (Adam) Dean, Lacey Waters, Jenna Waters, and Ben Sutton; four great grandchildren, Jillian and Jocelyn Sutton, and McKenna and Jeb Dean, who all were her pride and joy; and several nieces and nephews.

    In addition to her parents, Charlotte was predeceased by a sister Helen Stedman; and a brother, Kenneth “Buster” Hallock.

     A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, July 29, 2017 in the Sutton Ossowasso Cemetery, Rumsey Street Extension, Oswayo.  Donald Hyde will officiate.  A luncheon will follow in Sutton Park, Oswayo.

     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christmas House, 1 Water Street, Coudersport, PA 16915 or to the Oswayo United Methodist Church, 349 State Route 244 North, Shinglehouse, PA 16748.

      Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
