Delores J. Ford âbeloved mother and sisterâ
CERES, NY--Delores J. Ford, 76, of Ceres, NY, went to be with the Lord and her husband, on Friday, February 3, 2012 in Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, PA, with her loving children, Gordon and Kimberly, at her side.
Born on May 22, 1935, in Olean, NY, she was the daughter of Walter and Evelyn Warters Miller. On November 27, 1953 in Olean, she married Orville L. Ford, who passed away on July 22, 2010. They had 56 loving years of marriage together.
She was a graduate of Olean High School, Class of 1953. She was a devoted housewife and beloved mother to her children. She was employed by State Farm Insurance Company in Olean for several years. Mrs. Ford, along with her husband, owned Or-Dels Apiary.
Mrs. Ford attended Myrtle Gospel Tabernacle where she played the organ for several years and also attended the Ceres United Methodist Church for many years, where she previously served as the organist and choir director for the church. She recently attended Bell Run Union Church. Mrs. Ford was also a member and past matron of the former Rebekahâs Lodge in Portville and also was a member of the Keynote Chorus. Mrs. Ford was a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association. She and her husband were longtime volunteers at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital. She loved her pets. She enjoyed riding her motorcycle and loved spending time with her family. Her first and greatest love was serving the Lord.
Surviving are a son, Gordon D. Ford of Olean; a daughter, Kimberly S. Ford of Montclair, NJ; and three sisters, Aileen M. Frederick and Arlene M. Blauvelt, both of Portville, and Patricia A. Rhow of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Ford was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Miller.
Friends may call on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, PA, and on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 from 10 to 11 a.m. at which time funeral services will follow with the Rev. Robert N. Hubbard, pastor of Myrtle Gospel Tabernacle and the Rev. Chad E. Shaffer, pastor of Bell Run Union Church, officiating. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville.
