Donald R. Estes “beloved father, Papa, brother and good friend”

OSWAYO, Pa.---Donald R. “Donny” Estes, 55, of Oswayo, passed away unexpectedly at the home of his close friends, Doug and Hellen Ryan in Millport, on Saturday, November 14, 2020, after a brief battle with cancer.

Born on Wednesday, February 10, 1965 in Olean, N.Y., he was a son of Richard R. “Dick” and Barbara M. “Barb” Loudenslager Estes.

Donald was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School, Class of 1983, Shinglehouse. He was a mechanic in various garages throughout the area and was also a parts manager for the former Shinglehouse NAPA and later for John Hewitt Auto Repair. Donny owned and operated his own auto parts store in Shinglehouse, until retiring due to ill health.

Donny was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Shinglehouse Post 530. He enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, and socializing with his friends. His greatest love was his family.

Surviving are three children, Heidi M. Estes and Thomas D. Estes, both of Shinglehouse, and Gregory D. Estes, serving with the US Army in Germany; a granddaughter, Amelia Thompson; three brothers, Douglas R. (Bonita) Estes and Dennis E. Estes, both of Shinglehouse, and Daniel A. (Sabrina) Estes of Rincon, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Donny was predeceased by a brother, David E. Estes, who passed away on September 27, 2020.

In keeping with Donny’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shinglehouse American Legion Post 530, 1364 Rte 44S, Shinglehouse, PA 16748 or to the Oswayo Valley Memorial Library, PO Box 188, Shinglehouse, PA 16748.

Donny’s family has entrusted his care and cremation arrangements to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
