Donald D. Mix
COUDERSPORT, Pa. â Donald Duane Mix, 76, of Coudersport, formerly of Shinglehouse, Pa., and Bolivar, N.Y., passed away on Friday (October 9, 2015) at UPMC Hamot, Erie, after a short illness.
Born on March 24, 1939, in Shinglehouse, he was the eldest son of John Dayton Mix and Ethel Pauline Haynes Mix
Mr. Mix worked as a tool dresser on his fatherâs oil rig for years and also was employed as a factory worker and laborer.
Although he had moved to several locations throughout his life, he always volunteered with the local fire department wherever he lived, especially in Bolivar and Shinglehouse, having been a member of both the Shinglehouse Volunteer Fire Department and the Bolivar Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving are three children, Dayton D. (Gay) Mix of Clarks Mills, John P. (Judy) Mix of Roulette, and Laura Mix Rutherford of Montgomery, Ala.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Theodore G. (Bonnie) Mix of Shinglehouse; and one sister, Nancy JoAnne Mix of Coudersport; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial Service will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, October 19, 2015 at the Shinglehouse United Methodist Church, 201 North Lincoln Street, Shinglehouse, with the Rev. Dayton D. Mix, Mr. Mixâs son, and the Rev. Becky L. Edwards, pastor, officiating.
