READING---Donetta S. Brandt, 74, of Reading, formerly of Shinglehouse, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 in her home with her loving family by her side.

Born on September 30, 1943 in Dunkirk, N.Y., she was a daughter of Edward B. and M. Maxine Nichols Sutton.  On November 17, 1967 in the First Baptist Church, Shinglehouse, she married Everett E. Brandt, who survives.

Donetta was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School, Class of 1961, in Shinglehouse.  She graduated from the former Olean Business Institute in Olean, N.Y.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Shinglehouse and the Calvary United Methodist Church in Mohnton. Donetta enjoyed her flower gardens and baking cookies with her grandchildren.  She was a Girl Scout leader for many years and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Her greatest love was being a grandmother, wife, mother and homemaker.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 50 years are two daughters, Anne Marie (Richard) Kline of Reading and Allison L. (Don) Kuhn of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Airman Paul H. Kuhn, serving with the U.S. Air Force, Christina L. Kline, Gregory E. Kuhn and Matthew R. Kline; two sisters, M. Diane (Edward) Babcock of Port Allegany and Carole E. Terrette of Shinglehouse; and several nieces and nephews.

Donetta was predeceased by her parents.

Private graveside funeral services and burial will be held in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.  The Rev. Ken Thompson, of Brackenridge, will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oswayo Valley Memorial Library, PO Box 188, Shinglehouse, PA 16748.

Donetta’s family has entrusted her care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
