Donna C. Shreckengost       “beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister”

SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Donna C. Shreckengost, 77, of Shinglehouse, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 12, 2024, in the Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on Sunday, October 20, 1946 in Olean, NY, she was a daughter of Clair L. and Charlotte A. Hackett Austin. On March 2, 1970 in Richmond, VA, she married Philip Ray Shreckengost, who preceded her in death on January 4, 2022.

Donna was a 1964 graduate of Oswayo Valley High School in Shinglehouse. She then attended and graduated from the Howard University Dental Assistant program. She was employed by several dentists in her more than 50 year career. During this time she traveled to Jamaica for 17 years with mission groups working in dentistry and ministry.

Donna spent over 10 years on the Oswayo Valley School Board, having served several of those years as School Board president.

Donna was a member of Bell Run Union Church in Shinglehouse and was a member of the Bell Run Community Club. She loved spending her free time at basketball, baseball, and softball games and even cheerleading competitions, cheering on her kids, grandkids, and great-grandchildren. Most of all, Donna loved spending time with her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Timothy (Melissa) Shreckengost, Lori (Jason) Putt, and Deann (Jeff) Bonney; six grandchildren, Morgan (Michael) Cheek, Alyshia (Christopher) Gomez, Hannah (Eric) Graham, Sarah (Duane Wolfe) Putt, Jaxon (Chantel Good) Bonney, and Nikolas (Chloe Baker) Bonney; thirteen great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Nevaeh, Savanah, Hailey, Emerson, Easton, Bentley, Waylon, Maren, Isaiah, Hunter, Lilah, and Walker; a sister, Debbie K. (Paul) Dietze; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Donna was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy J. Maxson and Delores A. Johnson.

Family and friends are invited to call from 11am to 12 noon on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Bell Run Union Church, 904 Taylor Brook Road, Shinglehouse, where a memorial service will follow at 12 noon with Pastor Chad E. Shaffer, officiating.

Donna’s family has entrusted her care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
