Doreen Galeotti âlongtime Austin, PA residentâ
AUSTIN, PA---Doreen Galeotti, 92, of Austin, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, after a brief illness.
Born June 15, 1922 in Leicester, England, she was a daughter of Walter and Dorothy Robinson Harding. On July 15, 1974 in Austin, she married Danta L. âDanâ Galeotti, who passed away on April 16, 2011.
Doreen served in the Womenâs Royal Air Force in England during World War II, attaining the rank of Corporal. She immigrated to the United States in 1948.
Doreen, along with her husband, owned and operated Galeottiâs Restaurant in Austin for 43 years. After Danâs death, she continued to operate the business until March of 2014.
She loved to cook and enjoyed reading.
Surviving are a son, Carl (Anita) Benedict of Sioux Falls, SD; a grandson, Derek Benedict of Hugo, MN; a granddaughter, Linnea (John) Foreman of Gilbert, AZ; a great-granddaughter, Alexis Koller of Maplewood, MN; two stepdaughters, Laurie Galeotti of Phoenix, AZ and Lettie R. (Darryl) Zwolinski of Alden, NY; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins in England.
In addition to her parents and husband, Doreen was predeceased by two brothers, Alec and Maurice Harding.
Friends may call on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at the Austin Free Methodist Church, Costello Avenue, Austin, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at which time funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. The Rev. Roger Laktash, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Austin.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to the Austin Area High School, Austin, PA 16720 for Vo-Tech students pursuing a career in the culinary arts.
