Edward Bez “beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather”
COUDERSPORT, Pa.---Edward Bez, 98, a lifelong resident of Coudersport, went to be with his Lord on Monday, March 22, 2021, at the Baptist and Wolfson Town Center Emergency Room, Jacksonville, Florida.
Born on Sunday, May 7, 1922, in Tonawanda, N.Y., he was a son of Stephen and Anna Licnerska Bez. On September 14, 1946, in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Coudersport, he married Hazel A. Kaple, who passed away on September 1, 2010.
Edward attended school in Coudersport. He was a US Army veteran, having served in World War II.
The majority of his life, he was employed at the former Damascus Tannery in Coudersport.
Edward was a member of Coudersport Alliance Church. He was devoted to living his life to honor his Savior, Jesus Christ. He enjoyed woodworking (having made furniture for his family), tinkering on cars, and driving along country roads.
Left to cherish his memory are a son, Dr. Edward L. (Rachel) Bez of Jacksonville, Florida; two daughters, Joline J. Huren of Las Vegas, Nevada and Laurie A. (James) Mitchell of Eldersburg, Maryland; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Edward was predeceased by a brother, Henry Orlowski; a sister, Irene Scarpace; and a son-in-law, Robert F. Huren.
Family and friends may call from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm on Friday, April 16, 2021, at Coudersport Alliance Church, 1 Alliance Avenue, Coudersport, where a Celebration of Life service will be held at 10am on Saturday, April 17, 2021, with Edward’s son, Dr. Edward Bez, pastor of Christ Messiah Church in Jacksonville and the Rev. Josh Dean, pastor of Coudersport Alliance Church, co-officiating. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery, Coudersport. COVID 19 restrictions will be strictly followed, including social distancing and properly worn facial coverings.
Members of the Potter County Honor Guard will accord military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a biblical garden: Christ Messiah Church, 7576 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32217.
Edward’s family has entrusted his care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
