Elizabeth âBettyâ Linza âbeloved mother, grandmother & sisterâ
SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Elizabeth âBettyâ Linza, 89, of Shinglehouse, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016, in the Highland Healthcare Center, Wellsville, NY, after a long illness.
Born on June 7, 1927 in Olean, NY, she was a daughter of Harold J. and Edith LaDue Dickerson. She was married to Ernest âJimâ Linza , who passed away on November 29, 1995.
Betty was employed for many years in the cafeteria at the Oswayo Valley High School in Shinglehouse.
Betty was a longtime member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Shinglehouse. She served for many years as a volunteer at the Oswayo Valley Senior Center in Shinglehouse. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and taking daily long walks.
Surviving are a daughter, Gayle (Jack) Brooks of Belmont, NY; a son, Harold Linza of Allegany, NY; a granddaughter, Lisa Brooks of Rush, NY; three brothers, William (Theo) Dickerson and Orin (Louella) Dickerson, both of Eleven Mile, and Tom (Cecelia) Dickerson of Shinglehouse; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was predeceased by three brothers, Gerald, Robert and Edmond Dickerson.
Friends are invited to call from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2016, with the Rev. Russell J. Horning, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Shinglehouse, officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
