Emily Miller “beloved mother and grandmother”
SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Emily Miller, 95, of Shinglehouse, formerly of Drumore, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2016 at the United Zion Retirement Community, Lititz, after a short illness.
Born November 25, 1921 in Rochdale County, Lancashire, England, she was a daughter of Frank and Hannah Holden Rhodes. On July 2, 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland, she married Charles Roy Miller, who passed away on April 30, 1979.
Emily came to the United States in 1935 at the age of 14 and was naturalized on March 8, 1944. She was employed as a vari-typist in the Naval Depot in Philadelphia for the Federal government, retiring after 30 years of service.
Emily was a born again Christian who deeply loved the Lord. She loved to read. Her greatest love was her family.
She lived in Shinglehouse 12 years with her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Robert Lodato.
Surviving are six children, Ruth A. Graziosa of Jamison, Charles W. Miller of Manheim, Janice Misnik (Mike) Futer of Willow Street, Barbara J. (Robert) Lodato of Shinglehouse, James S. (Georgine) Miller of Levittown, and Alan Miller of Lititz; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
In keeping with Emily’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Zion Retirement Community, 722 Furnace Hills Pike, Lititz, PA 17543.
Emily’s family has entrusted her care to the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
