Eugene Calvert Graham “beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother”

WARREN, Pa.---Eugene Calvert “Gene” Graham, 78, of Warren, formerly of Shinglehouse, passed away in his home with his loving wife and sons by his side on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on Friday, October 23, 1942 in Morgantown, West Virginia, he was a son of Glenn and Doris Elliott Graham. In 2005 in Warren, he married his wife, Tamara Younie Graham, who survives.
Gene was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School in Shinglehouse, Class of 1960. After attending Carnegie University in Cleveland, Ohio, Gene began his career at the Deaconess Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y. in the radiology department, serving as a radiology tech and then assistant chief tech. He was then employed at Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo as chief tech and later administrative supervisor. He was then employed at Buffalo General Hospital, as Radiology supervisor from 1978 to 1989. In 1989 until the time of his retirement in 2010, Gene was the Technical Director of Radiology, Cardiology and the Cancer Treatment Center at WCA Hospital in Jamestown, N.Y. where he implemented the Cancer Center and the Cardiac Cath Department, expanded the Nuclear Medicine Department, Mammography Department, and the MRI Department. He also implemented the PET Scan Program and Ultra Sound Department. He also was in charge of the Radiology Service at Jones Memorial Hospital in Jamestown, N.Y., the Endroconology service in conjunction with Erie Service, Radiology School at WCA Hospital including Cat Scan and Special Procedures.
Gene also participated in the New York State supported program, setting up the Radiology Department in compliance with State mandates at the former Salamanca Hospital. He also helped in re-writing the federal regulatory guidelines for the handling of radioactive isotopes in Nuclear Medicine Departments in Philadelphia and New York City. During his tenure at WCA Hospital, he introduced these regulations and oversaw their implementation.
Gene was a founding board member of American Healthcare Radiology Administrators and a board member of the American Registered Radiology Technologists. He served on the advisory board at Trocare College in Buffalo.
Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He truly loved traveling and antiquing with his wife. He enjoyed restoring a log cabin near his hometown in Shinglehouse. Gene made several hunting trips out west and Canada. He also, along with his brother, Larry, went hunting in Alaska. He went fall pheasant hunting with his brother Vernon. He also enjoyed motorcycle trips with his wife. His family and friends were very dear to him. Teaching his sons how to fish was the highlight of his fatherhood.
Surviving besides his wife, Tamara, are two brothers, Larry S. Graham of Shinglehouse and Vernon L. (Charlotte) Graham of Rochester, N.Y.; three sons, Eugene C. (Victoria) Graham, Jr. of Venice, Florida, Michael (Kelly) Graham of Jamestown, N.Y., and John Graham of Jamestown, N.Y.; a stepdaughter, Samantha Weilacher of Virginia; three granddaughters, Kelly Graham of Boynton, Florida, Ashley Graham of Venice, Florida, and Courtney Graham of Jamestown, N.Y.; a nephew, Matt Long of Rochester, N.Y.; a niece, Cari Graham of Shinglehouse; a great-nephew, Ayden Long of Rochester, N.Y.; and two great-nieces, Miah Graham and Taylor Graham, both of Shinglehouse.
In addition to his parents, Gene was predeceased by a nephew, Michael Graham.
In keeping with Gene’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Warren General Hospital Cancer Care Center, 2 Crescent Park West, Warren, PA 16365 or to the Hospice of Warren County, 1 Main Avenue, Warren, PA 16365.
Gene entrusted his care and cremation arrangements to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
