F. Yvonne Hanel âbeloved wife, mother and grandmotherâ
JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA---F. Yvonne Hanel, 84, of Jacksonville, formerly of Rochester, NY and Shinglehouse, PA, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2015 after a short illness in her daughterâs home with her family by her side while under the care of Vitas Hospice.
Born October 13, 1930 in Olean, NY, she was a daughter of Charles âBuckyâ and Mareta Barton Meyers. On June 16, 1948 in Clear Springs, Maryland, she married John R. Hanel, who survives.
Yvonne was a graduate of Shinglehouse High School, Class of 1948. She moved from Shinglehouse at the age of 22. She was employed for six years at Roberts Wesleyan College in North Chili, NY.
Yvonne was a member of Glynlea Grace United Methodist Church in Jacksonville and was also a member of Park Lane Baptist Church in Jacksonville. She enjoyed crocheting having lovingly crocheted over 1000 prayer shawls for the children at the Shands Childrenâs Hospital in Jacksonville.
Surviving besides her husband are three daughters, Christine M. (Roger) Hinds of Rush, NY, Karen E. Hanel of Jacksonville, and Judy L. (Scott Sader) Hanel of Eustis, Florida; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Yvonne was predeceased by a daughter, Connie A. Hanel; and a brother, Charles B. Meyers.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Park Lane Baptist Church, 1480 Lake Shore Blvd., Jacksonville. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse, PA.
