Floyd J. "Sonny" Sharp

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL----Floyd J. “Sonny” Sharp, 87, of  New Port Richey, FL, formerly of Austin, PA, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2013 in New Port Richey, FL.

Born on July 11, 1926, he was a son of G. Floyd and Sylvia Shepard Sharp. In 1948, he married Theresa Greene, who died on October 26, 1993.

Mr. Sharp served his country honorably in the US Navy during World War II. Prior to moving to Florida in 1968, Sonny was the owner and operator of Sharp’s Garage in Austin for many years.

Mr. Sharp was a member of Arcana Lodge #580 F. & A.M. and the VFW Post 7810, both in Austin.

Sonny enjoyed hunting and the mountains of Potter County.

Surviving are a son, George Sharp; a grandson, Jason Sharp; and a great grandson, Christopher Sharp, all of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Sharp was predeceased by three sisters; Betty J. Fitch, Violet Porter, and Naoma Carey.

There will be no public visitation or funeral services. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Forest Hill Cemetery, Austin.

Local arrangements are under the direction of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
