SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Frances L. Palumbo, 83, of Shinglehouse, formerly of Philadelphia, passed away at home with her loving family by her side on Friday, July 31, 2015 after a short illness.
Born September 30, 1931 in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of Bernard and Louise R. Fox Lare. On February 23, 1952 in St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Philadelphia, she married Charles A. Palumbo, who passed away on April 30, 1971.
For many years Mrs. Palumbo was employed by Prudential Life Insurance Company as a fraud investigator. After retiring from Prudential she was a personal caregiver for several years.
Mrs. Palumbo was a devoted loving mother. She was also a loving caregiver to her family and to people she didn’t even know.
Surviving are a daughter, Francine L. (Lynn) Perkins of Shinglehouse; a son, Anthony C. Palumbo of Croydon; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernadette Black of Philadelphia; two brothers, James Lare and Charles Lare; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Palumbo was predeceased by a daughter, Lynn Jacobs; and several siblings.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Monday, August 3, 2015 at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse where funeral services will follow at 12 noon with the Rev. Fred Kemp, pastor of the Potter County Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Chrystal Cemetery, Eleven Mile, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christmas House, 1 Water Street, Coudersport, PA 16915.
