George A. Burlew, Jr.
SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---George A. Burlew, Jr. 83, of Shinglehouse, passed away Monday, July 23, 2012 in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport, after a long illness.
Born November 24, 1928 in Keating Summit, he was a son of George A. Burlew, Sr. and Leona Fuller Bundy Burlew.
George was employed as a farmer and also was the caretaker of several properties owned by his life partner of 41 years, Grace Shiles.
He was a friendly man who could strike up a conversation with anyone he met.
Surviving are a sister, Elaine (John) Brundage of Wellsville, NY; several nieces and nephews; and Graceâs children.
George was predeceased by his parents; his life partner, Grace Shiles who died on June 16, 2011; three brothers, Lester Bundy, William Burlew and Albert Burlew; and a sister, Junita Kelley.
Friends are invited to attend graveside funeral and committal services at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at the Chrystal Cemetery, Eleven Mile Road, Shinglehouse. The Rev. Russell J. Horning, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Shinglehouse, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to an SPCA of the donorâs choice.
