Gilbert L. “Gilly” Mitchell         “formerly of Shinglehouse, PA”

Bradford, RI----Gilbert LaVerne “Gilly” Mitchell, 60, of Bradford, RI, formerly of Shinglehouse, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 21, 2013.
     Born May 3, 1953 in Wellsville, NY, he was a son of Lloyd L. Mitchell and Ruth Wood Mitchell Jackson.  He was married to Anna Mastropietro, who survives.
     Mr. Mitchell was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School in Shinglehouse and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran having served his country for 9 years.
     He had been employed as a welder.
     Surviving besides his wife of Massachusetts; are five children, Tonya Mitchell, Craig Mitchell, Paul Mitchell, Michael Mitchell, and Michelle Mitchell; several grandchildren; two brothers, Dick (Betty) Mitchell of Bolivar, NY and Chet (Letha) Mitchell of Ischua, NY; three sisters, Rachael (Victor) Jackson of Springfield, GA, Millie (Bill) Blauvelt of Shinglehouse, and Elsie (Herb) Austin of Corry, PA; several nieces and nephews; and his companion of many years, Donna McDonald of Bradford, RI.
     In addition to his parents, Gilly was predeceased by his loving stepfather, Paul F. Jackson; two sisters, Betty Mitchell and Arlene Mitchell; and two brothers, Arvis Mitchell and Norman Mitchell.
     Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Honeoye Street, Shinglehouse, with the Rev. James E. Haddon, pastor, officiating.
