H. Ivan Weckerly “beloved father and grandfather”
SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa.---H. Ivan Weckerly, 88, of Shinglehouse, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2021, in the Olean General Hospital, Olean, N.Y.
Born on Friday, September 1, 1933 in Clarion, he was a son of Homer and Tressa Jordan Weckerly. On July 29, 1960 in Toledo, Ohio, he married Patricia Jane Miazgowicz, who passed away on December 7, 2007.
Ivan was a graduate of Wyandotte High School in Wyandotte, Michigan and was a graduate of Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in business.
Ivan was employed for many years at Dresser Industries in Olean, N.Y., as a union negotiator, retiring at the age 61.
He was a member of Sharon Lodge #598 F. & A.M. in Shinglehouse, a member of the Coudersport Consistory and a member of the Bolivar Golf Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Left to cherish his memory are a son, Mark Ivan Weckerly of Key West, Florida; a daughter, Heidi J. Benton of Sweeny, Texas; and two grandsons, Lucas J. Benton and Ethan I. Benton.
In addition to his parents and wife, Ivan was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Jackson.
In keeping with Ivan’s wishes, there will be no public services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ivan’s name may be made to the Shinglehouse Volunteer Ambulance Association, PO Box 98, Shinglehouse, PA 16748.
Ivan’s family has entrusted his care and cremation arrangements to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
