Harold Jr. Carpenter “beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather”

MILLPORT, Pa.---Harold Jr. “Pa” Carpenter, 86, of Millport, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, December 13, 2021, at UPMC Cole, Coudersport, after battling COVID-19.
Born on Saturday, May 11, 1935 in Coudersport, he was a son of Harold E. and Mary Stebbins Carpenter. On July 29, 1967 in Oswayo, he married Diana Irene Weimer, who passed away on January 20, 2011.
Pa was a graduate of Coudersport High School. He was a proud US Army veteran, having served from 1959 to 1963. He was employed for many years at Fibercell in Portville, N.Y., first as a janitor, retiring as head of Shipping and Receiving, after many years of service.
Pa was a former member of the Oswayo Valley Rod & Gun Club in Millport. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, camping in Chincoteaque, Virginia, and playing with his grandchildren. He had a wonderful sense of humor, always wanting to make people laugh. In earlier years, Pa and his wife, Diana, enjoyed bowling together. He loved his dogs, Chipper and Jack, but his greatest love was his family.
He was loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are four children, William (Brenda) Carpenter of Olean, N.Y., Harold (Lydia) Carpenter of Millport, Mary (Jeff) Prescott of Portville, N.Y., and Jeanette (Mike) Corwin of Portville, N.Y.; four stepchildren, Carmen Kontz of Bradford, Victor (Victoria) Wackwitz of Shinglehouse, Melvin “Todd” (the late Angie) Wackwitz of Bradford, and Jeffrey (Donna) Wackwitz of Olean, N.Y. twenty-nine grandchildren; sixty-four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Pa was predeceased by three brothers, Earl Carpenter, Gerald Carpenter, and James Carpenter; three sisters, Grace Carpenter, Esther Carpenter, and Carolyn Rossman; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Friends are welcome to join Pa’s family for graveside burial services at 11am on Thursday, December 16, 2021, in the Rathbone Cemetery, Coneville, PA. Pastor Hank St. Amour of Hebron Union Church, will officiate.
Members of the Potter County Honor Guard will accord full military honors on Thursday in the cemetery.
Flowers are gratefully declined and will be provided by the family. Memorials may be made to the Shinglehouse Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 475, Shinglehouse, PA 16748; to the Oswayo Valley Memorial Library, PO Box 188, Shinglehouse, PA 16748; or to a chapter of the American Cancer Society.
Pa’s family has entrusted his care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
