Harold S. Nolan

November 12, 1936 — August 9, 2022

Harold S. Nolan       “beloved husband, father, and grandfather”

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa.---Harold S. Nolan, 85, a lifelong resident of Shinglehouse, passed away on his beloved farm peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, August 9, 2022.

Born on Thursday, November 12, 1936 in Olean, N.Y., he was a son of Albert A. and Ida L. Austin Nolan. On June 11, 1955, in Bell Run Union Church in Shinglehouse, he married Nancy L. Carpenter, who survives

Harold was a graduate of Shinglehouse High School, Class of 1954. He was employed by the former Pierce Glass Company in Port Allegany, retiring after 35 years of service.

Harold was an avid golfer, having three lifetime holes in one. He also was an avid sports fan, enjoying the Buffalo Bills, Boston Celtics, and the NY Yankees. His favorite events were watching his children and grandchildren in whatever activity they were involved in. He and Nancy could always be found cheering in the stands. He enjoyed snowmobiling, having owned Nolan’s Polaris with his brother, Albert. He hunted all his life and loved time at Camp Deep Well with the boys. He also enjoyed hunting and trapping with his father. His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He could always be found “riling up the kids”!

Harold lived on Bells Run his whole life, working the family farm right up until the day before he passed away. Most days you could find him on his tractor working the land he loved.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 67 years; four children, Jeff (Cindy) Nolan of Temecula, California, Penny (Paul) Barr of Sunset, SC, Tami (Clark) Cummings of Shinglehouse, and Brian (Janet) Nolan of Shinglehouse; nine grandchildren, Tara (Joe) DeRose, Kirt (Lindsey) Barr, Kristen (Ronn) Thompson, Sean (Heather) Rice, Tyler (Whitney) Nolan, Janelle Barr, Clay (Nick) Nolan, Kaitlin Nolan, and Camden Nolan; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Harold was predeceased by three brothers, infant Nolan, Albert “June” Nolan, and Horace “Bud” Nolan; and a sister, Cressence Nolan.
