Henry W. Somogyi âlifelong Ulysses residentâ
ULYSSES, PA---Henry W. âHankâ Somogyi, 89, a lifelong resident of Ulysses, passed away in his home with his loving family at his side on Thursday, November 28, 2013 after a long illness.
Born January 13, 1924 in Himlerville, Kentucky, he was a son of Stephen M. and Clara Kruser Somogyi. On July 24, 1948 in Scio, NY, he married Dorothea A. âDotâ Steadman, who survives.
He was a graduate of Ulysses High School, Class of 1943. Mr. Somogyi was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the occupied services in Germany for 12 months during World War II.
He was employed by the former Worthington Industries which later became Turbodyne Corporation (now Dresser-Rand) in Wellsville, NY for 37 years.
Hank was a life member of Carl E. Hyde American Legion Post 963 in Ulysses and a life member of Raymond Richar VFW Post 6611 in Galeton. He was a proud member of the Potter County Honor Guard and also was a member of the Wellsville Moose Lodge.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, snowmobiling, his animals, and was an avid bowler. Hank was a gentleman farmer, being the owner of Somogyi Run Farm.
Surviving besides his wife of 65 years are a daughter, Yolonda J. âLonnieâ (Kari âFinnâ) Karhio of Ulysses; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
In addition to his parents, Hank was predeceased by three sisters, Clara Somogyi, Matilda Buckley, and Elizabeth Biggs; and a brother Stephen Somogy.
At Hankâs request, there will be no public visitation or funeral services.
