Ila York McGrew Roeske âbeloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmotherâ
COUDERSPORT, PA---Ila York McGrew Roeske, 89, of Coudersport, formerly of Geneva-on-the-Lake, Ohio and Coneville, PA, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2015, at Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport, after a long illness.
Born on November 6, 1926 in Holbrook, Maryland, she was a daughter of Julius H. and Jessie Hazelwood York. On November 23, 1950, she married Otto C. Roeske, who passed away on September 25, 1972.
For many years Mrs. Roeske was the assistant activities director at the Extended Care Unit of Charles Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport.
After moving to Ohio in 1977, she became a member of the Peoples Church in Geneva. Mrs. Roeske was a longtime member of the Hebron Union Church in Coudersport. She loved to knit, crochet, and read, especially the Bible. Her greatest love was her family.
Surviving are two daughters, Juanita J. âNitaâ Taber and Linda L. Allman, both of Geneva, Ohio; a son, Mark A. (Lori) Roeske of Oswayo; three granddaughters; two grandsons; five great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Roeske was predeceased by a grandson, Jack W. âJayâ Allman, Jr.; a son-in-law, Jack W. Allman; a brother and a sister-in-law, William and Dorothy York; and two nephews, George and Johnny York.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the Hebron Union Church, where funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Hank St. Amour, pastor, and the Rev. Howard R. Burnham, pastor emeritus, officiating. Burial will be in the Rathbone Cemetery, Coneville.

Mrs. Roeskeâs family has entrusted her care to the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, PA.
