Jack H. Jones âloving father and grandfatherâ
COUDERSPORT, PA---Jack H. Jones, 89, a lifelong resident of Coudersport, passed away at home with his loving family at his side on Monday, November 10, 2014, after a short illness.
Born January 3, 1925 in Coudersport, he was a son of Harold A. and Joyce Mattison Jones. In 1950 in Coudersport, he married Leona P. âDollyâ Haxton, who died in 1994.
Jack was a graduate of Coudersport High School. He was a self-employed farmer, owning Jones Produce in Coudersport. He was also employed in the woods and later by Tennessee Gas as chief operator from 1955 to 1985.
Jack was a social member of the American Legion Post #192 in Coudersport and a life member of Eulalia Lodge #342 F. & A.M. in Coudersport. In his early years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing at Black Lake with Dolly, dancing and going to the Legion. Later he enjoyed having coffee with his friends at McDonaldâs.
Surviving are three children, Maxine F. Parrish, James A. Jones, and Marcia (Joseph Lagrua) Lagrua Jones, all of Coudersport; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Tate of Coudersport; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jack was predeceased by a sister, Alice Keneally.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 1 p.m. on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at the American Legion Post #192, Coudersport with the Rev. Joseph Dougherty, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Genesee, officiating.
