James A. Kirby “beloved son, father and grandfather”
ROCHESTER, N.Y.---James A. “Jim” Kirby, 64, of Rochester, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Monday, September 5, 2022.
Born on Saturday, July 5, 1958 in Rochester, he was a son of Peter J. and Jacqueline A. “Jackie” Crossman Rotoli.
Jim was a graduate of Gates Chili High School in Gates, N.Y. He was employed in the maintenance department of Wegman’s in Rochester for over 41 years.
He was a member of Chili Bible Baptist Church in Chili, N.Y. In his earlier years, he enjoyed going to air shows and attending Rochester Red Wing games. He kept in touch with his family through phone calls and Facebook messages. His greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary K. (Gary McDowell) Rotoli of Bolivar, N.Y. and Beth S. (Will) Hilliard of Smethport, Pa.; five grandchildren, Joseph Bell, Madisyn Bell, Travis Bell, Jesse Bell, and Ryobi McDowell; a brother, Thomas (Macrina) Kirby of Jacksonville, Florida; a brother-in-law, Tony (Cathy) Ross of Hornell, N.Y.; an uncle, John (Phyllis Napier) Crossman of Shinglehouse; and three nephews, T.J. (Lena) Ross, Peter (Jennifer) Ross, and Thomas Kirby III.
In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by a sister, Cindy Ross; a nephew, Charlie Ross; three nieces, April Carr, Annette Ross, and Tracy Kirby; and several aunts and uncles.
Private graveside services will be held in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse with Pastor Phil Seely of Grace Bible Independent Baptist Church, Shinglehouse, officiating. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held in Rochester at a place, date, and time to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Bible Independent Baptist Church, 392 Coon Crossing Road, Shinglehouse, PA 16748 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Jim’s family entrusted his care and cremation arrangements to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, Pa.
