Jane E. Nunamaker âformerly of Oleanâ
DELMAR, MD---Jane E. Nunamaker, 77, of Delmar, formerly of Olean, NY, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016 in the Aurora Senior Living of Manokin in Princess Anne, MD, after a short illness.
Born May 31, 1938 in Olean, NY, she was a daughter of William J. and Pauline M. Moore Malone. On June 16, 1956 in Knapps Creek, NY, she married Donald E. âBudâ Nunamaker, who passed away on July 1, 2010.
Jane was a graduate of Allegany (NY) High School, Class of 1955 and a 1992 graduate of Beeville Community College in Beeville, Texas as a licensed practical nurse.
She was first employed at the former Olean Trust Company in Olean and later employed by the Texas Department of Corrections, the Maryland Department of Corrections, and lastly the Delaware Department of Corrections, retiring in 2003.
Jane was a former charter member of the Exchange Club of Lakewood, California and the VFW Auxiliary in Beeville.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathy S. (Robert) Neal of Santa Cruz, California; two sons, Donald T. (Susanne) Nunamaker of Richmond, Kentucky and Joseph W. (Autumn) Nunamaker of Holladay, Utah; three grandchildren, Amber Williams, Meggin Nunamaker and Wesley Neal; two brothers, John P. (Marilyn) Malone of Hinsdale, NY and L. Thomas (Rebecca) Malone of Olean, NY; three sisters, Catherine A. Anders of Shinglehouse, PA, Teresa M. Malone of Avon, NY, and Margaret Malone of Olean, NY; and many nieces and nephews. Jane also leaves behind her very dear friend, Juanita Homer, whom she met at work and discovered they shared many common interests as nurses and former military wives.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jane was predeceased by five brothers, Michael J. Malone, Joseph R. Malone, Roy D. Malone, Richard Malone, and William Malone.
Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Shinglehouse, with the Rev. Thomas Brown, pastor, celebrant. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
