Janet M. Bean              â€œbeloved wife, mother, daughter, and sister”

SHINGLEHOUSE, PA----Janet M. Bean, 55, of Shinglehouse, passed away at her mother’s home in Shinglehouse with her loving family by her side on Friday, March 13, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer.
     Born May 9, 1959 in Olean, NY, she was a daughter of Emery “Jug” and Betty L. Hosmer Evingham.  On April 24, 1998 in Shinglehouse, she married Dale E. Bean, who survives.
     Janet was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School in Shinglehouse.  After high school, Janet started working for Alcas Corporation, which is now Cutco, for 37 years until retiring due to ill health.
     Janet was a former social member of the Shinglehouse American Legion Post 530 and was a member of the Steelworkers Union.  She loved to fish.  Her greatest love was her family.
    Surviving besides her husband and her mother of Shinglehouse are a son, Dustin E. Bean at home; three step-children, Terry E. (Diane) Bean of Shinglehouse, Stacy L. (Mike) Blouvet of Friendship, NY, and Dayle L. “Beaver” (Mark) James of Shinglehouse; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Karen Y. Wyckoff of Bath, NY; two brothers, Karl A. (Jane) Evingham of Eldred and Terry E. (Cindy) Evingham of Bolivar, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
I     n addition to her father, Janet was predeceased by infant twin sisters.
     Friends and family may call from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2015 at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, PA where a celebration of Janet’s life will follow at 5 p.m.  The Rev. Chad E. Shaffer, pastor of Bell Run Union Church, will officiate.  Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
     Flowers are gratefully declined and will be provided by the family.  Memorials in Janet’s name may be made to the Potter County Hospice, 269 Route 6 West, Coudersport, PA 16915 or to the Shinglehouse Volunteer Ambulance Association, PO Box 98, Shinglehouse, PA 16748.
