SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Janice M. “Jannie” Clark, 79, of Shinglehouse, passed away in her home with her loving family by her side on Monday, May 19, 2014 after a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
     Born September 15, 1934 in Roulette, she was a daughter of Leonard and Cynthia Dumond Allison.  Jannie was raised by her foster parents, Cleon and Dora Hubbell. On May 27, 1955 in Shinglehouse, she married Merle D. Clark, who survives.
     Jannie was a graduate of Shinglehouse High School, Class of 1952.  She was employed as an executive secretary to the president of Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company in Olean, NY.
     She attended the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Shinglehouse.  She was a driving force in the Oswayo Valley Alumni Association with emphasis on providing scholarships to meet the graduate’s educational goals.  She was a charter member of the former Oswayo Valley Lions Club in Shinglehouse, having held several offices.  Jannie, along with her husband, volunteered at the Oswayo Valley Senior Center in Shinglehouse where she served on the Board of Directors and was very active with the Meals on Wheels program.  She was a member of the Oswayo Valley Historical Society in Shinglehouse.
     Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Merle D. “Chip” Clark and Guy S. (Rachelle) Clark, both of Shinglehouse; four grandchildren, Kasia R. (Jason) Frawley, Jared D. Clark, Amber L. (Joel) Harriger, and Allison R. Clark; two great-grandchildren, Ryan M. Clark and Cooper J. Frawley; two sisters, Joyce Bailey of Avis, PA and Jacque (Donald) Miller of Burtonsville, Maryland; three brothers, Robert (Joann) Allison of Jersey Shore, PA, Thomas “Roy” (Connie) Allison of Marion, Indiana, and Ronald (Shirley) Allison of Hummelstown, PA; and many nieces and nephews.
     In addition to her parents and foster parents, Jannie was predeceased by two sisters and three brothers.
     Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, PA where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2014 with the Rev. James Haddon, pastor of Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Shinglehouse, officiating.  Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse, PA.
