Jerry D. Lawton âbeloved husband, father and grandfatherâ
CERES. PA---Jerry D. Lawton, 67, of Ceres, PA, passed away unexpectedly Friday, February 13, 2015, in the Bradford Regional Medical Center, Bradford, PA.
Born September 23, 1947 in Olean, NY, he was a son of Donald and Elizabeth âTootieâ Cross Lawton. On January 4, 1975 in Shinglehouse, he married Betty âBetsyâ Silvis, who survives.
Jerry was a graduate of Bolivar (NY) High School. He graduated from Alfred University with a degree in Culinary Arts. For 33 years Jerry was employed by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission in Oswayo, PA until retiring in 2003.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing. His greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Lydia N. McLeod of Duke Center, PA, and Debbie S. Spinler of Olean, NY; two grandsons, Dillon J McLeod and Adam Scott McLeod; three great-grandchildren, McKaylee Rae McLeod, Maximus Owen McLeod and Mitchell Victor McLeod, a brother, Larry F. (Sally Ann) Lawton of Bath, NY; two nephews, Larry Lawton II and Donald Lawton; and, a niece, Cathy Bell.
Jerry was predeceased by his parents.
Friends and family are invited to call on Monday, February 16, 2015 from Noon to 2 p.m. at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, PA. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. David M. Cook, pastor of Obi Community Church, Obi, NY, officiating.
In lieu of flower, memorials may be made to a charity of the donorâs choice.
