Kurvin P. Hershey III “beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend”
COUDERSPORT, Pa.---Kurvin P. Hershey III, 70, of Coudersport, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2019, at UPMC Cole Skilled Nursing and Rehab, Coudersport, after an extended illness. He was surrounded by his loving family when heard the train whistle blow to be received by God.
Born on Saturday, April 9, 1949, in York, he was a son of Kurvin P. Jr. and Helen M. Darone Hershey. On August 16, 1986 in York, he married Roseann L. “Rose” Kuria Hershey, who survives.
Kurvin graduated from York Suburban High School in York, Class of 1967. After graduation, he went right into the work force at the family owned business, J.S. Hershey Bakery in York, maintaining the delivery vehicles and delivering baked goods. He was employed at Kightlinger Motors in Coudersport as an automotive service technician, retiring due to ill health.
Kurvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, guns, reloading ammo, building/rebuilding computers and RC Cars, Oreos, bacon, and Crown Royal. He also enjoyed recreational mechanicing, but when it came to blenders, he lost the battle, blender 1, Kurvin 0.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 32 years, Rose; his beloved therapy dog, Kallie; four children, Brandon (Valerie) Hershey and Danielle (Rob Heiss) Hershey, both of York, Aleisha (David) Greeley and Amanda (Erich Petsch) Hershey, both of Coudersport; ten grandchildren, Melissa (Joseph Olivero) O’Leary, Brandon Hershey, Jr., Bella Hershey, Eric Heiss, Nicholas Heiss, Elijah Heiss, Jocelyn Heiss, Kevin Greeley, Blake Greeley, and Marlhy Greeley; two great-grandchildren, Piper Olivero and Joseph Olivero, Jr.; a brother Steve Hershey of York; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Kurvin was predeceased by two brothers, Jeffery and Michael Hershey; his father-in-law, Albert Swords, Jr.; and two dogs, Bear Puppy and Baby Dog.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Kurvin's life at 2pm on Saturday, August 3, 2019, at Saulter Preserve, Bryant Road, Coudersport, with the Rev. Thomas Shatto, officiating. A picnic and time of fellowship will follow until 6pm. Please bring a dish to pass, a chair, and a memory to share of Kurvin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cole Foundation, earmarked for UPMC Cole Skilled Nursing and Rehab, 1001 East Second Street, Coudersport, PA 16915 or to Teacher’s Pet Rescue, 19 Blackberry Lane, Coudersport, PA 16915.
Kurvin’s family has entrusted his care and cremation arrangements to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
