Lauren E. Green    “beloved companion and sister”

COUDERSPORT, PA---Lauren E. Green, 70, of Coudersport, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 after a brief stay in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport following an extended illness.

Lauren, known as “Butch” in her younger days, was born October 9, 1946 in Trinidad, British West Indies.  She was a daughter of Lawrence E. and Virginia E. Green.

Lauren was a 1964 graduate of Yorktown Heights High School in Westchester, NY and of Woods Secretarial School.  She worked for many years as a pension consultant in New York City and Los Angeles and created her own business, Pension Paperworks (one of her LA customers was Robin Williams).  She continued her pension business from Shinglehouse after she moved east to care for her aging parents.

Lauren was the Potter County volunteer coordinator for Road to Recovery which provides transportation for cancer patients.  She was also a volunteer tax return preparer for the AARP tax preparation program and assisted many residents of Potter county with their returns each April.  In addition, she worked with Potter County Hospice and was treasurer of the Oswayo Valley Rod & Gun club for over a decade.  She ran Bingo games for the club at the Potter County Fair.  She was a founding member of the Area Women’s Investment Group where she served as treasurer.  An accomplished quilter, she belonged to the Quilting Club in Shinglehouse.  She enjoyed gardening, reading, travel, bird watching, and helping people and animals.

Surviving are her friend and companion, Ed McCrea of Coudersport; three siblings, Teri Smith (Vincent) of Patchogue, Long Island, NY, Tony Green of Shinglehouse and Florida, and Kernel Green of Ashville, NC; and two nieces, Debbie and Tami.

Lauren was predeceased by her parents, Gini and Larry.

In keeping with Lauren’s wishes, there will be no public visitation.  A celebration of her life will be held on a date and at a place to be announced. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Coudersport Public Library, 502 Park Avenue, Coudersport, PA 16915 or the Patterson Cancer Center – Infusion Room, US Route 6 East, Coudersport, PA 16915. 

Lauren’s family has entrusted her care to the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
