Linda G. Walton Dunn âlongtime Genesee, PA business ownerâ
SHINGLEHOUSE, PA----Linda G. Walton Dunn, 65, of Shinglehouse, formerly of Genesee, passed away with her loving family at her side on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 in Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, after a long illness.
Born October 26, 1949 in Marion, Virginia, she was a daughter of George G. and Minnie L. Smith Walton.
Linda was a 1967 graduate of Octorara High School in Atglen, PA. She was the longtime owner and operator of Lindaâs Genesee Family Restaurant in Genesee and later was the owner and operator of Lindaâs Ole Legion Café in Whitesville, NY until retiring due to ill health. Prior to owning her own business, she was a bartender and waitress in Gap, PA and had also worked at the former Penn Valley Restaurant in Genesee.
She was an avid NASCAR fan, with her favorite driver being Jeff Gordon and a Dallas Cowboys fan. She loved country music and collecting angels. Her greatest love was her family.
Surviving are two daughters, Shelly M. (Dale Rennells) Smoker Rennells of Genesee and Ronda L. Smoker-Allen of Shinglehouse; eight grandchildren, Daniel G. (Carrie) Prince, Joshua D. (Ashley) Prince, Miranda K. Rennells, Samantha M. Rennells, Veronica R. Smoker, James D. Rennells, Cameron J. Allen, and Jessica G. Edwards; six great-grandchildren, Peyton I. Prince, Isabel N. Prince, Randilynn G. Abbey, Kristina M. Houghtaling, Amelia M. Prince, and Kallee M. Houghtaling; and two great-grandsons to be born, Bentlee H. Butler due in February 2015 and Westyn L. Prince due in April 2015, whoâs name Linda chose the night before her passing; a brother, Gary W. (Ginny) Walton of Chambersburg; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Linda was predeceased by two infant sons; six brothers; and three sisters.
Friends may call at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, PA on Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at which time a memorial service celebrating her life will be held, with the Rev. Carl P. Greene, pastor of the Hebron Seventh Day Baptist Church, officiating. Her ashes will be scattered in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
