Linda M. Kilbourn

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa----Linda M. Kilbourn, 66, of Shinglehouse, Pa., passed away at home with her loving wife by her side on Friday, December 5, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born July 18, 1948 in Potter County, Pa, she was a daughter of Leon and Martha Corwin Kilbourn.  On July 13, 2014 she married Penelope J. Yunghans, who survives.
Linda was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School, class of 1966, in Shinglehouse.
She was first employed at the former Acme Electric in Allegany, NY and while working there was employed at the former Ried’s Food Barn, also in located in Allegany.  She later worked at Ried’s Food Barn in Olean.  She then moved with Acme Electric to the Cuba, NY location which later became Tracewell Electronics, working there until the closing of the business.  Linda then was employed at the former Ethan Allen Plant in Eldred until its closing and while working there was employed at the former IGA in Shinglehouse.  She lastly was employed at the Shinglehouse Shop N Save until ill health forced her retirement.  Linda was well known for her cooking skills at the deli and as a caterer.  She was a hard worker, putting in many extra hours just to be sure the job was done right.
She had numerous jobs over the years, but more than that she made many friends at each job, maintaining them over the years.  She was overwhelmed by the generosity of those friends who organized and attended benefits for her.
Linda was a member and volunteer at the Oswayo Valley Senior Center in Shinglehouse and a member of the Shinglehouse Volunteer Fire Department.
Russell and Alice Frost were like “adoptive” parents to Linda in her teen and early adult years.  This developed into a love of harness racing with Russell, for which she won many trophies, and a respect for hard work which she learned from Alice.  She also enjoyed participating in the annual Allegany River Regatta where she also won many trophies.
Surviving besides her wife are two stepsons, Steven E. (Erica) Yunghans of Fredonia, NY and Daniel W. (Jennifer) Yunghans of Cortland; four grandchildren; a brother, Ronald L.
