Lois Sullivan Furcron
COUDERSPORT, PA----Lois Sullivan Furcron, 83, of Coudersport, formerly of Galeton, went to be with the Lord Jesus on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport.
Born in Galeton on February 23, 1930, she was a daughter of Herman and Susan Boyer Miller. She was married to John Patrick Sullivan who predeceased her. She later married Charles Furcron who also predeceased her.
Lois attended Galeton Area School and Park School of Buffalo, New York, where she studied music. For many years Lois was the organist and choir director at St. Bibianaâs Catholic Church in Galeton. She was active in community organizations and remained interested in current events and politics.
Lois was a licensed insurance agent in both New York and Pennsylvania for Equitable Life Insurance Company and Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.
Lois was a published author of short stories and inspirational poems and delighted in writing childrenâs stories and memories of her childhood. She enjoyed oil painting, decorating, cooking and gardening. Her greatest love was her family.
Surviving are five children, Susan (Jay) Kefover of Galeton, Terry (Ken) Cole of Coudersport, Gail (Michael) Casey of Coudersport, Frank Sullivan of Mechanicsburg, and John (Teri) Sullivan of Galeton; seven grandchildren, Kenneth (Kathy) Cole of Lake Wile, South Carolina, Amy Howey Bova of Tampa, Florida, John Sullivan of Mechanicsburg, Jennifer (Tracey) Gross of Williamsport, Sarah Sullivan of Greensburg, Rebecca (Rob) Templar of Angelica, New York, and Mary (Carl) Snyder of Allentown. Fifteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Lois was predeceased by a brother, Andrew Miller, who died in the line of duty while serving as a Pennsylvania State Trooper; and three sisters, Erma Wilkinson, Martha Clark, and Helen Pidgeon.
A celebration of Loisâ life will be held in Galeton in the spring on a date and location to be announced. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery, Galeton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to a favorite charity or gather with loved ones and celebrate âfamilyâ in her honor.
