Lyle E. Taylor âbeloved husband, father, and grandfatherâ
SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Lyle E. Taylor, 72, of Shinglehouse, PA, passed away Monday, February 9, 2015 in Sena Kean Manor, Smethport, after a long illness.
Born September 23, 1942 in Olean, NY, he was a son of Fay E. and Viola I. Loucks Taylor. On April 24, 1965 in the Ceres United Methodist Church, he married Carol A. Bell, who survives.
Lyle attended Oswayo Valley High School in Shinglehouse. He was employed at the former Acme Electric in Allegany, NY and later by Don Taylor Excavating in Ceres. In 1989 Lyle started his own business, Lyle Taylor & Sons Excavating in Shinglehouse, which he operated until retiring due to ill health. He was dedicated to his work.
He enjoyed hunting. His greatest love was spending time with his family.
Surviving besides his wife are five children, Stephen L. (Karen) Taylor of Duke Center, Ann M. (Jason) Fox of Olean, NY, Michael L. (Kathy) Taylor of Jersey Shore, John E. (Jennifer) Taylor of Shinglehouse, and Amie S. (Troy Hadfield) Taylor of Shinglehouse; thirteen grandchildren; four brothers, Robert L. (Joyce) Taylor of Eldred, Dorwin M. (Carolyn) Taylor, Garry D. (Linea) Taylor, and Gordon A. (Carolyn Jo) Taylor, all of Shinglehouse; a sister, Norma Jean Seitz of Cocoa Beach, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Lyle was predeceased by a sister Anna Y. Lamb; and a brother, Fay LeRoy Taylor.
Friends may call at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, PA on Thursday, February 12, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at which time funeral services will follow with the Rev. Chad E. Shaffer, pastor of Bell Run Union Church, Shinglehouse, officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
