Mable L. Smith “beloved mother and grandmother”
SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Mable L. Smith, 99, of Shinglehouse, formerly of Rushford Lake, NY and Zephyr Hills, Florida, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2016, in UPMC Hamot, Erie, after a short illness.
Born on May 4, 1917 in Portville, NY, she was a daughter of Charles and Wilamina Rouse Prindle.
For approximately 40 years, Mable was employed by the former Acme Electric Company in Cuba, NY.
Mable enjoyed fishing and traveling.
Surviving are four children, Ernest (Joan) Roper of Tonawanda, NY, Jean M. Thompson of Shinglehouse, Sandra M. Veley of Belmont, NY, and Roger W. Roper of Delevan, NY; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mable was predeceased by two husbands; a daughter, Patricia Ann Pendleton; a son, Ronald E. Roper; two sisters; and three brothers.
In keeping with Mable’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services. Burial will be in East Sharon Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Mable’s family has entrusted her care to the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
