Margaret L. Kellogg âLoving mother, grandmother, sister & auntâ
SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Margaret L. Kellogg, 89, of Shinglehouse, surrendered quietly to the Lord at 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2013 in the Bradford Manor, Bradford.
Born March 18, 1924 in Burtville, she was a daughter of Clarence and Vivian Peters Peterson. On June 14, 1941 in Port Allegany, she married James P. Kellogg, Sr., who passed away June 7, 2008.
She attended Custer City School and earned her GED at the age of 60. Margaret was employed at the former Wilsonâs Fruit Market in Portville, NY and then was employed at the former Viko Furniture Company in Eldred. She later was employed at the former Acme Electric Company in Allegany and then as a nurseâs aide at St. Elizabeth Motherhouse in Allegany.
Mrs. Kellogg was a devoted member of the Portville Baptist Church. She enjoyed studying the Bible, spending time with her family and friends, shopping, and going to Redâs and Trudyâs.
Surviving are three sons, James P. (Gertie) Kellogg of Shinglehouse, Gregory D. (Linda) Kellogg of Fredonia, NY, and Gale T. (Kim) Kellogg of Bradford; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Kellogg was predeceased by a son, Robert J. Kellogg, who was taken tragically at age 15; two brothers, Norman Peterson and Jack Peterson; and three sisters, Catherine Carter, Emma Clark, and Elaine âBettyâ Miller.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, PA where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 2013 with Fred E. Kemp, pastor of the Potter County Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Bell Run Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
