SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Marie C. Ranck, 88, of Shinglehouse, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, January 10, 2013 following a brief illness.
Born August 30, 1924 in Bells Run, Shinglehouse, she was a daughter of Ellsworth and Ida Lundgren Clark. On February 14, 1946 she married Wilbert Ranck, who passed away on January 8, 1987.
Mrs. Ranck was a graduate of Shinglehouse High School. She was employed at the Eldred Munitions Plant during World War II and later was employed at the former Olean Tile Plant. She retired from the former Viko Furniture Company in Eldred.
Mrs. Ranck attended the Grace Bible Independent Baptist Church in Shinglehouse. She was a member of the Bells Run Community Club. She enjoyed her flower gardens, working in her yard, shopping and dining out.
Surviving are two daughters, Dorothy (Thomas) Lamont of Port Allegany and Esther Appleby of Shinglehouse; nine grandchildren, Billy (Vera Bressan) Taylor, Tammy (Bill) Slater, PeeWee (Connie) Appleby, Gordie (Nancy Ervay) Taylor, Lance (Pam) Appleby, Jeff Chappell, Jodi (Paul) Easton, Tricia (Mark) Olmstead, and Tawny (Mike Cheney) Taylor; twenty-three great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Ranck was predeceased by a granddaughter, Tracy Chappell; a brother, Vic Clark; a sister, Millie Olson; and a son-in-law, Terry Appleby.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, PA where funeral services will be held at 11am on Monday, January 14, 2013 with the Rev. Roger N. Hain, pastor of Grace Bible Independent Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Myrtle Cemetery.
