SWEDEN VALLEY, PA---Marie Jane Sallade, 70, of Sweden Valley, passed away with her loving family by her side in her home on Friday, September 20, 2013 after a long illness.
Born December 30, 1942 in Olean, NY, she was a daughter of Roy and Betty M. Bunnell Fry. On May 21, 1966 in Gold, she married Alfred Sallade, Jr. who passed away on May 17, 2010.
Marie was a 1960 graduate of Northern Potter High School in Ulysses. She was a graduate of Humble Institute in Minnesota, which was a flight school.
She was employed in Washington, D.C. for one year after graduation. Marie helped her husband and family run the former Cherry Springs Airport. She also worked as a clerk at Paul’s Citgo in Coudersport where she enjoyed visiting with the customers.
Marie attended the Sweden Valley Faith Community United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, and gardening. Her greatest love was her family.
Surviving are a son, Benjamin L. (Cinda) Sallade of Coudersport; a granddaughter, Sonyea Sallade; three sisters, Marcella (Wayne) Finnamore of Angelica, NY, Doreen Hunt of Red Lion, and Lila (Ron) O’Quinn of Stafford, VA; two brothers, Ken (Carol) Fry of Meadville and Ronald (Kathy) Fry of Altoona; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marie was predeceased by a sister, Shirley Hyde.
Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the Sweden Valley Faith Community United Methodist Church, at which time a memorial service will be held with the Rev. Steven D. Small, pastor, officiating. A time of fellowship will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mrs. Sallade’s family, 12 Avenue A, Coudersport, PA 16915 to assist with expenses.
