Marion P. Stubbs           “beloved mother and grandmother”

SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Marion P. Stubbs, 95, of Shinglehouse, PA, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015 in the Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY.
     Born on February 5, 1920 in Dunkirk, NY, she was a daughter of William and Drusilla Knox Cope.  She was raised by her adoptive parents, Albert and Ida Pearce.  On September 21, 1940 in Niagara Falls, NY, she married Hubert D. Stubbs, who passed away on August 31, 1990.
     Mrs. Stubbs was a graduate of LaSalle High School in Niagara Falls.  Along with her husband, she owned and operated the former Stubbs Food Market in Sanborn, NY for 25 years, which had been formerly known as the A. L. Pearce Store, which was owned by her father for 50 years.
     Mrs. Stubbs retired with her husband to Shinglehouse in 1971.  She enjoyed flower gardening and reading.  She most especially loved spending time with her family.
     Surviving are a son, Jon A. Stubbs of Oswayo; two daughters, Cherie (Dayton) Garling of Sanborn, NY and Jean A. Greene of Ellenville, NY; seventeen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
     In addition to her parents, adoptive parents and husband, Mrs. Stubbs was predeceased by a son, Hubert E. Stubbs; a daughter, Karen Mitchell; two brothers; and a sister.
     Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, PA where funeral services will follow at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Becky L. Edwards, pastor of the Shinglehouse United Methodist Church, officiating.  Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
