Michael D. Majot “Beloved husband, father, and grandfather”

CERES, NY---Michael D. Majot, 87, a lifelong resident of Ceres, NY, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022, in the Houghton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Houghton, NY.  Prior to that, he had resided for several years in the Assisted Living at Wellsville Manor Hills in Wellsville, NY. 

Born on Sunday, September 16, 1934 in Austin PA, he was the son of Michael E. and Sophia B. Zelasko Majot.  On September 28, 1957 in the Sacred Heart Church in Portville, he married Sandra Miller Majot, who passed away on June 17, 2017.

Michael was a graduate of Portville High School and expanded his trade skills to become a Master Welder.  He was employed as a tool and die maker at the former Cooper Industries in Olean until his retirement.  Michael enjoyed the outdoors and puttering in his garage workshop, as well as attending local garage sales seeking hidden treasures.  He loved spending time with his family and sharing stories of “the old times”. 

Left to cherish his memory are six children, Sophia Majot of Ballston Spa, Sarah Majot of Burnt Hills, Edward (Betty) Majot of Little Genesee, Douglas (Gina) Majot of Wellsville, Paul (Shari) Majot of Ceres, and Kevin (Kimberly) Majot of Little Genesee; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Family and friends may call from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union St, Shinglehouse, PA, where funeral services will be held at 10 am on Monday, July 11, 2022, with Pastor David Herne, of Heritage AFlame Ministries, Bolivar, officiating.  Burial will follow in St Mary’s Cemetery, Bolivar. 

In lieu of flowers, donations and memorials may be made to the local SPCA.

Michael’s family entrusted his care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, Pa.
