Paul N. Ahearn âthe greatest man we ever knewâ
COLESBURG, PA---Paul N. Ahearn, 86, of Colesburg, passed to his final reward with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, November 4, 2015, in Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, after a long illness.
Born August 1, 1929 in Milton, he was a son of John and Maude Butler Ahearn. On January 28, 1950 in Coudersport, he married Deloras M. Lattin, who survives.
Mr. Ahearn attended the former Colesburg Country School. He was a machinist at Ingersoll-Rand in Painted Post, NY, retiring in 1991 after 32 years of service.
Paul was raised on the family farm in Colesburg. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, gardening, bowling, barbequing for family gatherings, and most especially spending time with his beloved family. He was also a Little League baseball coach.
Surviving besides his wife of 65 years are his seven beloved children, Judy M. Stanley of Osceola, Jerry R. Ahearn of Wasilla, Alaska, Nick P. (Pam) Ahearn of Coudersport, Tim J. (Jan) Ahearn of Coudersport, Bill P. (Gaila) Ahearn of Colora, Maryland, Cindy M. Easttom of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Gene L. Ahearn of Coudersport; twenty grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter to be born; three sisters, Kathryn Goers of Florida, Irene Stevens of Coudersport, and Jennie Sebring of Osceola; a brother, James (Louise) Ahearn of Greenwood, NY; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ahearn was predeceased by his siblings, Mike Ahearn, Edith Barker, John Ahearn, Tim Ahearn, and Mary Seymore; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Stewart Ahearn; and a son-in-law, Roger Stanley.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial Mass at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at St. Eulalia Catholic Church, Coudersport, with the Rev. James Campbell, pastor, as celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donorâs choice.
Mr. Ahearnâs family has entrusted his care to the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
