Paul H. Rhodes
SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Paul H. Rhodes, 95, of Shinglehouse, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 in Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, after a short illness.
Born on July 26, 1921 in Kingston, PA, he was a son of William A. and Louise Isaac Rhodes.
He graduated from Kingston Township High School on June 7, 1940. Paul proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II, being stationed at Hickam Air Field in Hawaii, during the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He also served in the Saipan Island and was discharged August 20, 1945 as a Private First Class.
Paul was employed by Philadelphia Gas and Electric as a linesman retiring in 1966.
Surviving is a sister, Margaret Anthony of Hanover, MA; and several nieces, nephews, and adopted children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by a brother, William Rhodes.
Friends may call from 2 to 3 pm on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, at which time a memorial service will follow with the Rev. Steve Nickel, of Samaritan's Purse, Boone, NC, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607 or to a church of the donor’s choice.
