Paul F. Trimble “beloved husband, father and grandfather”
OSWAYO, PA----Paul F. Trimble, 90, of Oswayo, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, April 7, 2017, after a short illness.
Born on March 8, 1927 in Quarryville, he was a son of William J. and Clara B. Stokes Trimble. On December 17, 1983 in Hebron Township, he married Gertrude R. “Gert” Bell, who survives.
He attended Mount Aetna schools. Paul was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean War. He served in the tank battalion maintenance shop, receiving a letter of appreciation for technical knowledge and devotion to his work.
Paul, in his earlier years worked the family farm and was also a truck driver. He then was a self- employed antiques dealer.
Paul was a dedicated member of the American Legion. He was a P.U.F.L. member of Carl E. Hyde American Legion Post 963 in Ulysses, and a past member of Shinglehouse American Legion Post 530 and a past club steward for the Post 530 Club. He served as a past adjutant and financial officer for Potter Post 192 and a director for the Post 192 Club in Coudersport. Paul was an original member of the Potter County Honor Guard. He was a post 16th District Deputy Commander and 16th District Adjutant. He was an active member and a great fundraiser for the Genesee Rod and Gun Club in Genesee. He was a former member of the Limerick Lions Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed snowmobiling. He was an enthusiastic volunteer for many organizations.
Surviving besides his wife are eight children, William (Judy) Trimble of Grantville, Eugene (Karen) Trimble of Wernersville, Steven (Sheila) Trimble, Kathy (Ronald) Gross, and Robert Austin, Jr., all of Shinglehouse, Kevin (Kim) Austin of Bradford, Glenda (Bob Peters) Doner of Hermitage, TN, and Kandi (Mark) Goodreau of Port Allegany; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Boucher of Hamburg, Rita Garloff of Myerstown, and Sara (Robert) Manbeck of Robesonia; and many nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Craig (Tammie) Garloff of Myerstown.
In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by a grandson, Neil Trimble; a great-granddaughter; two brothers, John Trimble and Roy Trimble; and two sisters, Mary Repshur and Celesta Manbeck.
Friends may call from 6 pm to 8 pm on Monday and from 9 am to 11 am on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, where funeral services will follow at 11am with the Rev. Carl Greene, chaplain of the Potter County Hospice, the Rev. Thomas E. Brown, pastor of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Shinglehouse, officiating. Committal services and burial will be held in Rathbone Cemetery, Coneville.
Members of the Potter County Honor Guard will accord full military honors on Tuesday.
