Born March 6, 1929 in Bernville, PA, Pauline was the daughter of Charles N. and Amy B. Kramer Gerhart Blatt. On January 1, 1948, Pauline married the love of her life, John F. Valentine, who died October 13, 1972.
Pauline attended school in Bernville and was employed in a shoe factory prior to her marriage. In 1952, she, her husband, and toddler daughter moved to Genesee where they had purchased a farm. Pauline worked with her husband in their dairy operation until its sale. After her husbandâs death, she was employed as a personal care aide and clerked for Si Peppermanâs auction service.
Pauline was a member of the Ellisburg Union Church for sixty-one years. She had been a Sunday School teacher, Bible study member, and trustee. She was a member of the Elllisburg Community Club of which she served as president for thirty-four years.
Gardening, cooking, baking, sewing, and quilting were some of Paulineâs favorite activities. She was never idle. She enjoyed country music and flowers of all varieties, especially lilacs and roses. When younger, Pauline gladly took elderly friends and neighbors to various appointments, shopping, or lunch. More recently, she loved to âgadâ with her friends â particularly if shopping and lunch were on the agenda. Her greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are three children, Susan A. Valentine and Ted J. Valentine, both of Genesee, and Lori J. (James) Clifford of Carlisle, PA; four grandchildren, Tracy L. Valentine, Katie S. (David) Faulkner, and John P. Valentine, all of Wellsville, NY, and Brandon J. Clifford of Carlisle; three great-grandchildren, Lola B. Sollinger, Ayla S. Faulkner, and Easton P.
